From the brown cabinets to granite countertops, everything about this early 2000s kitchen bored our Prospect Heights clients. They were ready for an update that would tie their whole home together, starting with white cabinets and unique design touches like an armoire refrigerator.
Many meals were eaten at the previous island. Not wanting to lose their main eating space, but also wanting to create a more conversational environment, our designer crafted an island where seating was available on three sides, allowing for people to look at each other. Once they started demolition to install the new island, they found that the wood floors were missing underneath part of the old island. Since we weren’t replacing the flooring, this could have caused quite the issue, since the missing patch of wood would have been visible under the new stools. The crisis was averted when the project manager had the idea to remove the portion of the wood floors that would be covered by the solid part of the island and relocate them to under the barstool. The result was seamless and the dream island became a reality.
