A previously wasted space is transformed into a grown-up’s dream basement complete with a gym, bathroom, family room, game space, wine bar and a fully functioning bar. That’s right, we said it. We designed it, and we built it… two functioning bars in one space.

Who Says the Basement Has to Be for the Kids?

This Prospect Heights couple felt they had already dedicated the entire upstairs to their children. They wanted a space tailored to their specific needs so they could have a good time and entertain guests easily, even on a school night. In the first drafts of the design, we presented the couple with a standard bar, that was all about the look and not about function, but these clients pushed back, asking for our designers to create the most authentic bar possible. The challenge was accepted and the final product was stunning with the proper storage and sinks necessary for our clients to properly host and serve. They even had a beer tap installed! Many of their other wishlist items were practical, such as installing a gym to cut back on monthly membership fees, adding a half bathroom so guests wouldn’t have to go upstairs, and adding a comfy nook with a fireplace so if anyone needed a space to decompress they could curl up by the fire on a nice comfy sofa.
