From Closed Floor Plan to Open-Concept Layout in Arlington Heights
By removing walls that secluded the dining room and relocating the powder room, our team made room for a larger kitchen, transforming this 1990s-style Chicago-area home into the ultimate space for entertaining family and friends.
With our Arlington Heights clients’ passion for cooking and entertaining, transforming their narrow galley kitchen into a spacious room for hosting was a top priority. Over the course of several design meetings, we agreed on the structural modifications needed to enlarge the kitchen and add countertop space, including removing walls and relocating a powder room. However, when construction got underway, we discovered a previously -built second floor addition was incorrectly supported by the building crew. Given that safety is our most important consideration on any job, we installed the appropriate beams, including an additional support post. Our team added soffits throughout the entire living room to mask these unexpected features, limiting their impact on the space’s design.
