For this homeowner, making sure the kitchen was the heart of the home was one of the top priorities. With a custom home build, she finally opportunity to design a kitchen to meet her specific needs and style as an avid cook and baker. Her wishlist included two dishwashers, a larger fridge, and freezer column units. Our team delivered, along with adding a ledge behind the cooktop to keep things like spices and oil, a secondary large prep sink in the, and a jaw-dropping ventilation hood to act as a focal point.
When looking closely, one may notice that there are only two upper wall-mounted cabinets in the kitchen. This allows for all the dishes to be stored in the many drawers, which allows for easy access, especially as the homeowners age.
One of our favorite elements is the custom baking pantry. This pantry includes storage for all the homeowner’s baking supplies, including the mixer. A small sink was added to provide easy access to water and rinsing if baking with fresh produce. The best part is that this space is enclosed by a pocket door allowing the homeowner to hideaway any baking messes when guests visit.
Before: As this space was built, it was framed to include plenty of doorways and the NanoWall leading to the three-seasons room. The fireplace structure was included, and the foundation was concrete. The light sockets were also installed.
After: The final Living Room included built-in shelves with base cabinets, a custom fireplace mantle, and coffered ceilings. The can lights provide plenty of illumination. The walls are painted a soft gray. A statement lighting fixture hangs in the center of the room.
