KITCHEN REMODEL

Going For The Look

The original kitchen had no glaring eyesores or major functional issues. It simply didn’t match the whole home aesthetic these Arlington Heights clients were trying to achieve. From the cherry wood cabinets to the granite countertops, the room felt dark and heavy, whereas they wanted something more light and airy with a modern upscale appearance. They also wanted a kitchen with easily-cleaned and maintained products. However, sometimes you can’t help what you fall in love with. Once the homeowners saw the look of leathered quartzite, they couldn’t help but choose its beauty over an easy-to-clean alternative. Other priorities for them involved finding proper storage for all their dishware, a large galley sink, and space for newer and nicer appliances.

How Much Will Your Kitchen Cost to Remodel?

The Design

Before: The dark design in this Arlington Heights kitchen didn't match the aesthetic of the rest of the house, or the taste of our clients. The appliances lacked the quality and power needed for our clients who loved to cook. The stove lacked a vent hood, which was problematic considering the frequency it was used. The cabinets created a sense of gloom in the room and didn't have the storage our clients desired.

After: The new space feels bright, light, and modern. After the client picked out their desired appliances, we ordered a stove hood, and built the hood cover to look like a continuation of the contemporary white cabinets. With ample storage in the expanded island, we added a special spice rack pullout near the stove so the chef of the day wouldn’t have to move around too much while preparing the perfect meal.

The Countertops

Before: A black speckled granite overwhelmed the room and contributed to its darkness with nothing contrasting the deep blacks and browns. These materials didn’t provide the feel clients were looking for.

After: A warm, marbled, leathered quartzite now graces the countertops throughout the kitchen, creating a cohesive, luxurious effect. The natural stone creates a unique look and warms up the space.
