From Making It Work to Luxurious Dream Bathroom

After completing a few other projects with OHi, these Northbrook clients decided it was time to tackle their slightly forgettable hall bathroom with a perpetually broken toilet. The client envisioned creating a hotel-like bathroom, complete with calming aesthetics and artistic details, to make it feel elevated and luxurious. The team brought this vision to life with a floating wood vanity, a bowl sink, textured wallpaper, and a new toilet, replacing the old, dated fixture. These design elements combined to create a unique and luxurious space.

Taking It Off the Pedesal

After 25 years of living in the home, the hall bath was the only room that had not been updated. The homeowner was charmed by the one piece in this bathroom: a vintage Kohler pedestal sink. Despite numerous toilet malfunctions and costly repairs, she tried to make the space work. However, after a stay at a hotel with a relaxing, ethereal bathroom, she was inspired to create a similar space in her home.

The client desired an organic, neutral, and gentle feel for the bathroom but was unsure where to start with her selections. She trusted OHi design Kim Malito to find the perfect combination of elements, a task she was well-equipped for, having worked with the client many times over the years to help craft a cohesive and beautiful home.

While replacing the beloved pedestal was bittersweet, the client ended up loving how a full width vanity created more storage and helped fill the space, creating a more balanced room.
