From Confined Kitchen to Black & White Beauty

Originally, the kitchen in the home felt dark and cave-like after an addition had been added on before the current homeowners bought this Arlington Heights home. Hoping to open up the space, these clients were pleased when the final design felt airy, light, and seamlessly cohesive with the attached great room.

Things Are Looking Up

To properly open up the kitchen to allow for more light in the space, our team had to reconfigure a few things to ensure the room remained structurally sound. For starters, we removed a wall and chimney piece that limited the space of the original kitchen footprint. From there, we did work to even out the ceilings. The kitchen ceiling was low, which felt claustrophobic compared to the high ceilings of the addition. While opening things up, we added a beam and removed a few soffits to give the room a more consistent appearance with the addition.
