From Limited Layout to a Kitchen Made for Hosting

These Arlington Heights homeowners knew their kitchen needed to work harder for the way they live, especially when it came to hosting family. They envisioned a space with better natural light, more room for cooking, and an island where everyone could gather. Originally, the kitchen was separated from the sunroom and family room by two walls that limited both light and connection. Our team removed those barriers to open the space and introduced a spacious island with comfortable seating. A beautiful tile backsplash with a decorative, wallpaper-like feel became a defining design element, so much so that it inspired the homeowners to refresh their dining room with wallpaper that carries the same blue flourish aesthetic into the neighboring space.

Seating, Sips, and
Seamless Connection

Every design decision in this kitchen centered on opening the footprint and strengthening the connection between spaces, whether through shared meals, drinks, or comfortable places to gather. To elevate the homeowners’ hosting experience, our team incorporated a dedicated beverage station that acts as a natural bridge between the kitchen and family room. The station features a beverage cooler and elegant glass shelving, offering the perfect place to display favorite glassware and serving pieces while keeping refreshments within easy reach for guests.

To further enhance the sense of warmth and relaxation, our designer introduced a cozy window bench seat framed by pantry cabinetry. This inviting nook creates a comfortable spot to sit and unwind while visually linking the kitchen to the existing sunroom. The surrounding pantry storage also serves a practical purpose, keeping food and everyday essentials tucked neatly away. With the kitchen now open to three adjoining spaces, this additional storage helps maintain a clean, organized look, allowing the kitchen to shine as the welcoming centerpiece of the home.
