For these Hampshire clients, updating their master bathroom to have a fresh, airy, and bright look was of the utmost importance, along with bringing in a little color, a free-standing tub, and an aesthetically pleasing storage solution. With plenty of tile and a gorgeous vanity, our team was able to deliver.
The leading reason for the remodel was to expand the original shower, which suffered from minimal light and a sense of claustrophobia while in use. The shower was cut off from the natural light in the old bathroom by a wall and an opaque glass door. It also lacked storage for toiletries. The designer decided to revamp the space by slightly expanding the square footage, thanks to space freed up by the standing tub and the removal of the dividing wall. Instead, the shower was enclosed with transparent glass that helped the entire room feel larger and brighter.
The homeowner initially wanted a full-length bench. However, they had to compromise with a corner bench to ensure the shower didn't feel too crowded due to spatial limitations. We did include a two-tier niche to store shower toiletries while also upgrading their showerhead system to have a handheld option.
Before: The master bathroom was equipped with a standard bathtub sandwiched between the water closet and a dark, closed-off shower. The wall was standard painted drywall, and the floor was a patterned tile. The baseboards were wood.
After: The wall between the shower and the tub is removed and replaced with a full glass enclosure for the shower. The tub is now an elegant soaker tub that provides a punch of personality, complete with a modern faucet. The back wall is now covered in a clean, textured white subway tile, which matches the lively painted floor tiles. The baseboards were replaced with a thinner, white option.
