BASEMENT REMODEL

Hide and Seek

The main component of elevating this space involved creating places to hide the more mechanical elements of a basement, such as a furnace and water heater. By creating individual closets and rooms for each component, they could break the basement into unique spaces while also adding a bathroom. Our team relocated many of the elements to make the space more functional. However, they had to get creative when it came to the location of the furnace. Initially, the spot where it needed to be accessible was supposed to be a wall. The solution: include a 360-degree door that allows it to be easily reached.

The Basement

Before: The floors were painted cement. The whole ceiling was composed of exposed beams. The walls were drab and uneven in color. There were no markings to delineate a new space.

After: Waterproof flooring in a lighter shade is installed throughout to help the space feel lighter when paired with the gentle gray paint on the wall. Crown molding lines the newly sealed ceiling.
