The original home was filled with late 70s and 80s fixtures, large neon artwork, and a closed floor plan. The client reached out to OHi, wanting to bring his space into the modern world while maintaining the original design integrity of the home. He loves artwork and wanted every feature in his home to be a talking piece. Our designer opened the kitchen space, created a masculine lounge in the den, and separated the primary and hall bath to provide his wife a private ADA bathroom with a separate powder room for guests.
The refrigerator was one of the main reasons this client wanted to remodel. His original one broke, and he felt it was the perfect opportunity to have the kitchen fully remodeled. The client wanted the fridge built in, and our designer did not disappoint. She built it in with two large pantry cabinets on either side and wood paneling on the refrigerator doors. The designer was inspired after attending KBIS and decided to add mirror panels on the doors to open the space, bring some bling, and add visual interest to the wall. She used glass and antique mirrors to mimic the interior doors of the rest of the home. The last detail she decided on was adding the gold trim, which made the piece complete.
Another area of the home that our designer was given the creative liberty on was the powder room. Our designer used a modern take on a 1960s aesthetic for this space. The inspiration came from the Genie Marble Water Jet tile she found for the back wall that had a masculine and retro feel perfect for this client. She warmed the space with touches of gold that act as the final touch of jewelry for the perfect outfit. Our lighting designer kept with the oval motif when picking the mirror and lights for the space. The client wanted everything in his home to have meaning and be like a work of art, and that’s exactly what our team did in this bathroom. From the tile wall to the floor tile.
Before: The kitchen had outdated white painted cabinets with tan trim and hardware. There was a small island in the middle. The back wall had a soffit over the beverage station that had two tall pantry cabinets on either side and a beige backsplash. There was small grey penny round tile flooring. There was a two-door black refrigerator on the left wall and a black oven with a microwave stacked on the right.
After: The wall on the right side has been removed and the kitchen is now opened into the dining room. The flooring has been replaced with a light wood. There is a large blue island in the center housing the double sink. There is a range top on the back wall with a mirrored ombre backsplash and gold hood. There is a double oven on either side of the range and white cabinets. There is a gold chandelier over the island and dining table.
Before: The original floor plan had one long and skinny bathroom on the first floor, the walls were a tired beige with tan cabinets. It was dark and dingy with a few recessed can lights. There was a walk-in shower hidden under a soffit wall with a brown shower curtain. There was a gold ADA rail by the toilet. The floor was small brown hexagon tiles.
After: The designer decided to split the first-floor bathroom into two. The wall into the room closet was opened, so the primary bathroom is now wider. The flooring is now a large peacock blue hexagon tile, and there is a floating vanity. The vanity has grey cabinets with gold hardware and a white countertop. The vanity wall has a blue mosaic tile backsplash. There is a large gold circular mirror in the center of the wall with two long gold LED lights on either side. There is a gold faucet with a decorative blue sink. The shower has the hexagon flooring conituend in. There is a shower bench, a gold showerhead, and a handheld shower on the back wall. There is blue and grey tile on the back wall of the shower.
