Cabin-Inspired Comfort Meets Everyday Accessibility
At the back of the home, the family room was refreshed with improved lighting and flow, and a three-seasons addition inspired by the Wisconsin cabins they grew up visiting creates a warm, inviting space for gathering. The result is a home that balances accessibility, function, and heartfelt design.

The new three-season room is a heartfelt nod to the Wisconsin cabins the wife grew up visiting, complete with a nostalgic sign and framed photos from the lake that inspired it all. The goal was “Midwest lake house cozy,” not mountain lodge, so we balanced warmth with restraint. Rich textures and layered lighting create an inviting glow, while dramatic black window framing adds a hint of modern edge. The flexible window panels keep the space airy and adaptable, easy to open, yet resilient enough to bounce right back.
Beyond charm, the addition brings function. With another family member moving in, the extra square footage allows everyone to spread out comfortably. Hidden storage behind the seating keeps folding tables and chairs ready for their many gatherings, and a custom-built exterior shed neatly houses gardening tools, supporting the homeowners’ beloved backyard oasis.
At the front of the home, the newly created ADA bathroom was designed to feel personal and welcoming for Dad. Masculine tones and calming finishes create a relaxing retreat, while thoughtful planning ensured full accessibility. To allow proper clearance for a walker, we explored floating toilet solutions that maximized space without sacrificing comfort or style, proving that practical design can still feel deeply personal.
