From Blank Space to Butler's Pantry & Basement Beverage Center

Hoping to maximize their space while giving their kitchen, basement, and hall bathroom a little facelift, these Arlington Heights homeowners approached our team to provide a creative yet functional solution to help create a seamless kitchen and enhanced basement. With a few walls rearranged, a fresh backsplash, and a dramatic color combination, the house feels brand new.

A Little Here and a Little There

Hoping to create spaces perfect for their family's needs, these clients tackled three different projects to varying degrees: the kitchen, hall bathroom, and basement.

For the kitchen, apart from absorbing the hall closet, they didn't want to make any significant layout changes. Instead, to make the space fresh, they replaced the countertops and backsplash while also painting the island a dramatic midnight blue. For the butler's pantry, they pulled in the same color scheme, moved a few walls, and made an opening to the dining room, officially removing the unused hall closet that became a forgotten storage space.

In the basement, they wanted to expand the main section and finish that part of it to create a space for hosting guests and for their son to practice guitar. Our designer wanted to make sure every inch was functional, so she had the creative idea to turn the under-stair alcove into a mini beverage center. This created an additional place to store drinks and glassware whenever they entertained guests.

Finally, the hall bathroom was initially a cramped space that would have felt dated and out of place with all the other updates the homeowners made. This is why they opted for a simple change, with a calming gray, blue, and white color combination. Our designer took some of the hall space to make it slightly larger. Though compact, she also wanted the area to have a big impact. Enter the ombre artic tile shower niche that acts as a charming focal point.
