Accessible Living in Rolling Meadows

The original Rolling Meadows home still featured many of its original finishes, including dark wood cabinetry that offered limited storage accessibility and functionality. The homeowners came to OHi looking for a solution that would allow them to remain comfortably in their home while creating a space that was more accessible, efficient, and enjoyable for everyday living.

To accomplish this, our team widened doorway openings, incorporated accessible storage solutions throughout the kitchen, and transformed the bathroom into a safer, more functional retreat with a curbless shower, built-in bench seating, and a handheld shower system. When the homeowners requested a kitchen island, our designer carefully reconfigured the layout to ensure ample clearance for a motorized mobility scooter without sacrificing style or functionality. The result is a thoughtfully designed home that blends accessibility, comfort, and timeless design.
