BATHROOM REMODEL

Family Won’t Leave You In The Lurch

For years, our Long Grove clients hated their master suite because of the lack of proper storage, horrendously dated style, and confusing layout. It was imperative that this space become light and breezy, while meeting their functional needs. For her, that included a personalized makeup vanity. For him, it meant designing the closet to include space for packing. They both felt the large jacuzzi-style tub was a waste of space and preferred to focus on a steam shower. Renovation ran smoothly apart from having to reconfigure the location of a few electrical outlets.

However, while our team was on location, the clients' sump-pump failed, causing some flooding in the basement. Luckily, our project manager was on site when it happened. He called in our neighbors at ServPro and they were able to take care of it right away. This added to the scope of the project since the clients requested that we rebuild the sump-pump closet and redo their flooring in the affected area, but the end results were beautiful.

“When we decided to remodel our master bath and closet, we went with OHi because several of our friends had been happy with their work. It was a perfect fit for us. Our satisfaction can only be summed up when the other morning, my husband walked out of the bathroom and said, 'This is the perfect room. Even more than I envisioned.”

What Will Your Bathroom Cost to Remodel

The Bathroom

Before: The back corner was completely wasted on a large Jacuzzi tub that our clients never used, the shower had dated gold trim, and the two sink vanities were on opposite walls. The cabinets were a light brown wood and lacked the storage the clients desired.

After: A Kohler bubble jet tub now resides under the window, which created room for the custom makeup vanity.  Both sink vanities are on the same wall and have polar white Sorrento cabinets.  The steam shower has a brushed nickel finish, with a niche to shelve their hair care products. The clean, modern bathroom checked all the boxes on our clients’ wishlist.

The Closet

Before: It wasn’t the “blah” beige carpet that irked our clients, but rather the unnecessary wall separating the two sides of the closet. Apart from that, the storage wasn’t customized to the clients’ needs, who often travel and needed a space to pack without having to transport everything to another room.

After: Fresh grey carpet, matching the bedroom, now fills this open concept closet. A custom peninsula is located near the pocket door separating the closet from the bathroom, perfect for folding laundry, packing suitcases, or laying out the next day’s outfit.

The Vanity

Before: These homeowners were limited to the vanity space accompanying their respective sinks, which, in the hustle of getting ready, felt cramped and uncomfortable.

After: With both sink vanities placed along the same wall, the vacant space is replaced by a custom makeup vanity, which is truly the showstopper in both craftsmanship and uniqueness. Instead of having a drawer to hold any makeup or hair products, the antique-inspired top lifts up, with LED lights and a mirror so whomever is sitting doesn’t have to scoot back to open a drawer.
