After inheriting a house in Long Grove untouched since the late 1960's, not only did this family need to update the first floor and kitchen, but they needed to remodel the three bathrooms in the house. While each bathroom is different, their cohesion with one another is undeniable, as each effuses clean elegance.
A bathroom is a place for relaxation, not stress. This philosophy was the guiding principle for revamping the master bathroom. The original space had a shower so cramped that the husband pf this Long Grove couple would have to hunch in order to fit inside. The new design involved removing the unused closet located behind the bathroom in order to expand the shower. We also vaulted the ceilings to ensure there was enough height for comfort.
Before: The speckled wallpaper, tile trim, and mosaic floor, when combined, became quite distracting. The bathtub shower combination had become grimey over time, and had a rain glass shower door, making the space feel tight. The vanity was builder grade wood topped with laminate
After: Drywall replaced the wallpaper, tile replaced the tile flooring, and elegance replaced the dated vanity. The new vanity was a soft gray packed full of storage and topped with doubles sinks and quartz countertops. The new bathtub shower had better lighting and a frameless, clear glass door, as well as a mosaic niche.
Before: The floor tiles was chipping away, the vanity was standard builder grade wood with a laminate countertop. The mirror was a non-descript piece of glass, and the walls were covered in wallpaper.
After: The wallpaper is stripped away, and replaced with freshly painted drywall. The new flooring is a durable, light-toned tile. The vanity is a fresh white with a quartz countertops and a sleek double handle faucet. The new mirror has an elegant detailing that makes it a focal point.
