This Clarendon Hills couple wanted to bring their bathroom to life. The original space was small, outdated, and completely whited out. They asked OHi to open the space to make room for a more expansive shower and to use clean lines throughout the design. The client specifically wanted a grid shower door, which our designer used as inspiration for the style of the rest of their space. Our team created a mid-century modern, industrial bathroom complete with a walnut vanity, marbled flooring, black hardware, and open shelving.
One of the clients was very tall and tired of how cramped he felt in the shower, so they decided to expand the bathroom to make space for a larger shower that would be more comfortable. Our team moved the bathroom wall into the hallway by relocating the linen closet. The headway for the stairs going down was cutting through the closet, so our designer built a way to mask it by crafting a specially designed cabinet to camouflage the structure of the stairs. When you look at it, you’d never know there is something inside.
Before: It was a small bathroom with all-white fixtures and cabinets. An extended white laminate countertop off of the vanity that the toilet fit under was a white medicine cabinet built into the right wall. The walk-in shower was enclosed by a soffit and had green mint green square tiles. Behind the vanity, there was a long rectangle mirror with a silver and white three-bulb light fixture.
After: The room has been extended into the hall opening up more space. The vanity sits in the back corner by the right wall and is a stained oak console vanity with two drawers and an open shelf for rolled towels on the bottom. There is a quartz remanat countertop with light grey veining. There are two stained oak wood shelves above the toilet. The mirror has been replaced by a large, round, matte black one with an updated gold three-bulb light fixture. The soffit above the shower has been removed, and the shower is now wider with a black grid door and white subway tile surround.
