KITCHEN REMODEL

Closeted Storage Space

The original kitchen layout was unfunctional as the coat closet, which would typically be in a front hall, was right in the middle of the primary wall. This closet eliminated all pantry space from the kitchen. The client desperately wanted to improve the functionality of her space and, more specifically, a pantry. Our designer was able to reconfigure the layout by moving the refrigerator over to where the closet was and flanking it with pull-out pantries and cabinets. She also took the opportunity to make this section a focal point and made the cabinets navy blue in contrast to the all-white perimeter.

How Much Will Your Kitchen Cost to Remodel?

The Kitchen

Before: Dark cherry wood cabinets were beneath a soffit around the back wall, the countertops were black granite. There were yellow vinyl tile floors. A small island was in the center of the space with cherry wood cabinets and a black granite countertop. There was a coat closet on the left wall. There was a chocolate wood dining room table. There was limited recessed can lighting.

After: The space is brighter as the window above the back counter is expanded. The ceiling is now a fresh white with light blue walls. The backsplash is white subway tiles. There are white perimeter cabinets with quartz countertops. The closet has been removed, and there are pantry cabinets flanked around the refrigerator. The flooring has been replaced with a beige hardwood. There is now a white chandelier above a large white island.
