After deciding that they want to make their space lighter, brighter, and more open, these Bartlett Homeowners decided to undertake a kitchen remodel. After exploring the space, the OHi team relocated a doorway, removed extraneous soffits, and greatly enhanced the island. The final design was both glamorous and sophisticated.
While escaping from the ill-designed 90s style plaguing their kitchen was highly important, another item on their wishlist was actually updating their appliances. New appliances led to investing in a matching Vent-A-Hood, which gleams along the centrally located appliance wall.
Overall, the kitchen's functionality greatly improved. The island was extended, allowing up to five people to sit. Many cabinets include helpful organizational pullout accessories. Storage was increased, especially surrounding the refrigerator. Not to mention the completely revamped butlers station. While the look of the space is wonderful, the new ease created in both layout and functional improvements is heavenly.
Before: A U-shaped soffit surrounded the center of the kitchen which distractingly drew the eye. There was limited cabinet storage. The appliances were cramped, and the island offered no seating options. The ventilation system above the stove was weak. There were black countertops and wood floors.
After: The soffit is removed. The island is extended and offers seating. The countertops are elegant quartz. The cabinets are extended along the appliance wall, and the doorway to the dining room is relocated. A high-powered Vent-A-Hood is stationed above the range. The flooring is updated throughout the house to be darker. New pendant lighting is installed above the island.
Before: The cabinets were basic white, with no handles. The sink was small. and the appliances had to be stationed above the cabinets. There was no backsplash tile.
After: The upper cabinets are replaced with glass-fronted doors to allow for display. The sink is updated to have a longer faucet. The lower cabinets now include a beverage cooler, along with drawers.
