After purchasing a new home, this Arlington Heights client wanted to remodel the space before settling in. The kitchen needed a new layout and brighter disposition, while the carpet in the dining room had to go to help the kitchen and dining room become seamless. The toilet in the master bathroom was shorter than the standard height and paired with a dated tile and cramped shower. With the magic of white cabinets, new floors, and a pull-and-replace bathroom design, this old house became a treasured home.
Initially hesitant to consider adding a wine bar to her kitchen, after seeing the design, this client knew it was the missing piece to achieving her dream space. Not only did the wine bar help accentuate the new length of the kitchen which was combined with the dining area, but it helped become the focal point with the perfect amount of storage for both wine and other kitchenware items.
The bar was an added bonus when combined with the already improved storage and increased countertop space in the rest of the kitchen. Both the new cabinets and countertops helped brighten up the space, especially since the client opted to keep the original appliances.
Arlington Heights
Before: The kitchen had, heavy, dated wood cabinets and laminate countertops. A short peninsula caused the room to feel stunted by separating it from the dining area. The corner sink was awkward and wasted precious countertop space.
After: With the soffits removed, the new cabinets expand higher up, allowing for more storage space. with the peninsula removed, the countertops and cabinets expand further into the room creating more countertop space and storage. A niche is added behind the sink as a place to set soap and to draw the eye with a fun geometric tile. The old appliances remain, but match nicely with the cabinets.
Before: The floor has a dated tile, the vanity is grainy wood, and the toilet is shorter than the edge of the bathtub. The bathroom simply feels dated and heavy.
After: The floor is replaced with a durable LVT selection. The toilet is now standard height. The vanity is graceful, topped with a dramatically veined quartz, and contains improved storage.
Before: The vanity is grainy wood, and topped with a countertop that unnecessary expands above the toilet. The toilet, again, is extremely short. A dated floral tile speckles the floor. The old shower pan is cramped and grimey.
After: A new, elegant vanity stand in place of the old one. The white cabinets and gray countertop brighten the space while creating contrast. A durable LVT is installed. A standard height toilet replaced the short toilet. A new shower, with beautiful tiling is added, with additional square footage.
