After downsizing to a condo, these homeowners decided they hated all the stairs and wanted to relocate to a ranch-style home. After finding the perfect property, they connected with OHi to help transform the space into the farmhouse aesthetic of the client's dreams. While maintaining the home's original bones, our team opened up the floorplan and took it from a 1950's bungalow into a crisp, clean, and highly functional space to be enjoyed for years.
The main request from the homeowners was to create a kitchen perfect for any chef. The husband of the pair loved to cook and wanted a professional style range. They also wanted ample storage for small appliances, cooking tools, and ingredients. They also were hoping our team could find a way to open the space up to allow for a large island. With grandkids, they needed an island to seat at least four.
Once our team opened up the floor plan to ensure the homeowners had an expansive kitchen with a large island for seating and cooking, they no longer needed the original breakfast nook. However, the homeowners desperately wanted their laundry room relocated from the basement to the first floor. Our designer took the unused breakfast area and created a functional haven with a laundry room, powder room, and mudroom combo.
Before: Covered in tan brick and tan accents throughout, our team. The windows were old. The landscaping needed to be improved, and the roof needed some repairs.
After: The brick is white-washed to give it a more contemporary feel. The roof is updated. Natural cedar elements are added to tie in elements from the inside and provide the farmhouse feel that the clients love. The windows were replaced and now have black frames. The garage doors are updated and replaced to match the black and white theme. The landscaping is improved not to overwhelm the house but rather to accentuate it.
