BASEMENT REMODEL

Laundry Relocation

To increase functionality, our team decided to move the laundry area to the back of the basement. This opened the front area for more play space and allowed us to add anchor clips to the ceiling for the kids' hanging seats. Moving the laundry area back also made it possible for us to add a kitchenette in the basement.  The client wanted a kitchenette for more cabinet storage and to give the kids easy access to snacks and drinks while they play.

The Basement

Before: The basement closed off as a wall divided the original laundry room and storage from the main gathering space. The floors were laminate tiles. The ceiling was tiled. The lighting was fluorescent and limited. There was little to no storage. There was no designated play area. The stairs were wood with a runner.

After: The laundry room is relocated, and the walls are removed to create an open layout. The stairs are updated and carpeted. The support poles are surrounded by decorative pillars. LVT flooring is installed throughout. Fresh drywall is installed and trimmed with baseboards. The ceiling is updated with black metal and recessed canned lighting is added throughout.
