For these homeowners, the decision to remodel came after putting up with a single wall of cabinets and a cramped space for far too long. They approached the OHi team to help transform the space into their dream kitchen, complete with an island, upper cabinets, and quartz countertops.
While it didn't take much to improve the original space, since it consisted of only a few drawers, an awkwardly positioned sink, and dated appliances, the OHi team had to get creative when creating a floorplan large enough for an island and additional cabinets. The solution came through the removal of a small walk-in pantry that allowed for more walkable square footage. In its place stood a set of pantry cabinets and a television so homeowners could enjoy their favorite shows while cooking. Another big improvement? Adding a garbage disposal and upper cabinets, both of which were missing from the original space.
Before: A single block of cabinets stood consisting of four narrow drawers. There were no upper cabinets. The sink was located at an angle in the corner. The countertops were dated, along with the green laminate tiles. The appliances were dated.
After: The cabinets are expanded throughout the kitchen, with the addition of upper cabinets that extend almost all the way to the ceiling. They also have hardware for easier access. The appliances are updated to stainless steel and rearranged to allow for a microwave to be stationed above the stove. The countertops are now a marble-look quartz, the green floors are removed, and an elegant backsplash is installed.
