Unexpected Twists

While the space became a haven for relaxation, it didn’t start out that way. When our team began demolition, they found, to their surprise, that the walls had layer upon layer upon layer of drywall, which lead to a far more extensive demolition than planned. This also changed our plan of keeping the original beadboard intact, as it was nearly impossible to remove it and reapply after the thick drywall layer behind was removed. Luckily, we were able to find a new beadboard that worked perfectly for the style our clients dreamed about. 

The other big twist on the space was one that our team and the client decided on long before demo: the removal of the bathtub. The client wanted to be prepared for the possibility that they would one day no longer be able to step over the ledge of a bathtub. This tweak in design helped create the illusion of a wide open space, and gave room for fun design details such as a corner bench and shower niche.
